Sony has just introduced two new smartphones that is Xperia P and Xperia U, which was introduced at Mobile World Congress 2012 event in Barcelona, Spain. Two phone is arguably the 'brother' of the Sony Xperia S which has been first introduced at CES 2012 last. Although the features are carried over minimal, but both offer a choice of colors in each series.

Together with Xperia S smartphone that has been introduced previously, The Xperia P and Xperia U will be part of a family called the Xperia NXT. Distinguishing feature of this series is a transparent ring at the bottom of the phone which also serves as an extension of the antenna. Xperia NXT family will be directed into entertainment devices in accordance with the direction of Sony Mobile Communication after a one hundred percent split with Ericsson.


Sony Xperia P

Xperia P (formerly known as Nyphon) are in a higher caste. This handset has a 4-inch wide-screen tech Reality Display and body wrapped in aluminum. Sony Xperia P powered by a 1GHz NovaThor U8500 dual-core processor and 1 GB of RAM. Sony Xperia P runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS with Timescape UI on top of it, sporting a 4-inch LED-backlit display WhiteMagic technology & 540 X 960p resolution.

Sony Xperia P equipped with an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera, front-facing VGA camera for forwarding video chats, 1080p HD vdieo recording capability, 16GB internal memory storage, Bluetooth 2.1, micro USB 2.0, HDMI port, 802.11 Wi-Fi b/g/n, access to Android Market, compatible with the Xperia smart tags, a whole host of the Google services and it features all the common features of an Android handset.

Sony Xperia P is the first smartphone to feature Sony WhiteMagic. This is a technology that can automatically 'zap' to adjust the brightness of the screen in direct sunlight conditions. There are also accessories SmartDock that allows users to connect the phone with Sony televisions.

Sony Xperia U

Xperia U (formerly known as the Kumquat) have even smaller landscape display, 3.5 inch which are both technologically Reality Display. Xperia U specification is lower than the Xperia P. Sony Xperia U runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS out-of-the-box, sporting a 3.5-inch LED-backlit LCD display with Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine technology & 480 X 854p resolution, powered by 1GHz NovaThor U8500 dual-core processor,

Sony Xperia U equipped with 5 megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash, front-facing VGA camera for forwarding video chats, 720p HD video recording capability, 4GB internal memory storage, Bluetooth 2.1, micro USB 2.0, 802.11 Wi-Fi b/g/n, access to Android Market, compatible with the Xperia smart tags, 1320mAH battery to power everything, a whole host of the Google services and it features all the common features of an Android handset.

Sony Xperia U and Sony Xperia P promised to upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich in mid-2012. While the price range has not been mentioned.
