Google Doodle Present Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
As you click on the little squares the background turns black and Google's 'G' is replaced by a snowflake at the sound of a chime. As you progress through the buttons, each letter follows suit and morphs into a Christmas picture - and it soon becomes clear that you are in for a rendition of Jingle Bells.
After clicking the last box, the various pictures - including a snowman, a ringing bell, and a Father Christmas head, candle and a gift box - dance in tune to the Christmas song. When the festive arrangement is over, you're automatically taken to a another page showing the search results for 'Merry Christmas'
In the United States (U.S.), the phrase 'Happy Holidays' is often used as a greeting to all the winter holidays, like Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa. That is to say, 'Happy Holiday' is a shortened form of the greeting Merry Christmas and New Year.
